Most ridges in middle of mattresses occur primarily in king size mattresses.  When the two twin extra long box springs are put together to make a king size bed, the wood in the middle actually causes the ridge.  Since polyurethane foams compress & no-one probably sleeps in the middle of the mattress all the time,  it is impossible to get even wear.
